I have been creating VR mods for fun—and because some games just scream &quot;Please play me in VR!&quot; and I cannot resist their call—for a few years now. In 2017 I began working at my VR conversion for 
No One Lives Forever 2: A Spy in H.A.R.M.'s Way, which was received with amazing affection and support by the die-hard fans of the game, and was featured on <a href="https://uploadvr.com/modder-brings-spy-thriller-no-one-lives-forever-2-vr/" target="_blank">UploadVR</a>. Even lead designer Craig Hubbard personally expressed his appreciation to me! It's so sad that this hidden gem of a game today lies almost forgotten and buried under legal issues that make it <a href="https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/no-one-will-sell-no-one-lives-forever-so-lets-download-it" target="_blank">impossible</a> to even buy an official copy. 
 
Encouraged by the reaction, in 2019 I went on to create another utility allowing the huge, open-world GTA V(*) game to be played in VR, a monumental effort that swallowed up all of my spare time for many months. You can still find my first announcement for the project 
<a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/dkhib0/" target="_blank">here</a> on Reddit. With my rendering interface and original libraries, the full game becomes perfectly playable in stereoscopic VR from start to finish; you can even invest enough time in it to get all gold medals, which I admit I did, being at the time a big fan of the game(*). The R.E.A.L. VR mod for GTA V was featured on countless gaming websites and YouTube videos, and even made it all the way to <a href="https://www.polygon.com/2020/2/11/21131951/grand-theft-auto-5-vr-mod-bong-rips" target="_blank">Polygon</a>. (*) Please note that I have no affiliation with Rockstar, and in fact they seem to hate this project so much that on July 6, 2022 their parent company, Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., issued a DMCA notice against me and my work. They are <a href="https://kotaku.com/take-two-goes-on-another-grand-theft-auto-mod-killing-s-1847467984" target="_blank">not new</a> to this sort of hostile behavior toward modders and gamers alike, but still it was pretty sad after all the copies of the game I helped them sell (my mod was downloaded about 200,000 times, and for many of those users I also provided direct and constant assistance, using up huge chunks of my personal time without any compensation). Also, as you probably know, there are basically no open-world VR games or official ports at all on the market, so it's not as if I were in competition with any commercial product. 
 
Both of those mods are still, and will continue to be, available for free on GitHub. But now I need your support, which leads me to...
 
 
<h2>Why Patreon?</h2>
When I decided to try my hand at another game, still by Rockstar, I knew that I was in for my hardest endeavor of this kind. That game (think cowboys) was much more advanced than GTA V from a technical point of view, and the graphics APIs it supported (Vulkan and DX12) were similarly more complex than DX11, on which GTA V was based. I had to create a whole new framework for VR injection: basically everything I had built for the GTA V mod was now useless and needed rewriting from scratch.
 
 
I decided to take the plunge though, and for about six months I stopped taking new contracts altogether with my main freelance developer activity. Since then I've been working full time on similar projects, creating and growing a software framework that allows huge AAA open-world games to be played in Virtual Reality, and if you guys are willing to support me it is my wish to keep doing so for the foreseeable future.
 
 Despite Take-Two's DMCA notice <a href="https://www.patreon.com/posts/68740592" target="_blank">killing off</a> without explanation four of my mods which my fans (who are also their customers) used to love, I still have working VR conversions for Horizon: Zero Dawn, Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring and Dark Souls: Remastered. All those conversions made possible by my framework, like the previous ones, require the original games in order to run. 
My intention is to keep improving these VR mods, as always listening closely to what you users and fans suggest, request and would like to see, and I also hope to be making other AAA games playable in VR with the same level of quality and attention that you have come to expect of me. I can't promise anything right now (despite anybody's best efforts, no game comes with a &quot;moddable&quot; guarantee, and failure is always an option), but on average I have been able to grow my framework to support a new title about every 1-2 months. If you guys are willing to accompany me in this journey, I will of course listen to what you have to say on the matter, in order to set my priorities!
